Alberta Society for the Visually Impaired. ASVI is a registered non-profit society with northern and southern Alberta chapters, and a provincial council. ASVI organized in 1971 to advocate for the return of students who were visually impaired and blind from distant residential settings to their neighbourhood schools. ASVI is actively involved in advocacy efforts with various levels of government. ASVI provides educational and social opportunities for families and service providers.

My son Max has been diagnosed with Bilateral Persistent Fetal Vasculature. I was inspired to start this after reading a blog by a woman named Jessica with a 3 year old son named Thomas with the same condition. After reading their story and gaining so much hope and relief from it I wanted to do the same for someone else and hope this blog about my sweet Max provides that for someone. As an extension of the previous entry, I thought it might be appropriate to share a little of my own experience with Norrie Disease. As noted therein, these experiences can vary widely from person to person, yet we still believe that those who are able to verbalize what they deal with should in the hopes that light can be shed on perspectives of individuals for whom speaking is less of an option.
